What Your Malaria Prevention Consultation Covers
A single 15-minute appointment with our pharmacist — destination risk, a personalised prevention plan, and the advice that goes with it.
Destination risk assessment
We map the malaria risk along your exact itinerary — including rural, forest and border areas where risk is highest.
Personalised prevention plan
Our pharmacist assesses what prevention is appropriate for your trip based on your destinations, trip length, health history and any current medication.
Bite-prevention guidance
Practical advice on repellents, clothing and nets — the measures that matter as much as any treatment.
What to watch for after travel
How to recognise symptoms after you return, and what to do — malaria can develop up to a year later.
How It Works
A single 15-minute appointment is all it takes — assessment, plan, and any treatment in one visit.
Tell us your itinerary
Share your exact destinations — including any rural or off-the-beaten-track areas. The more detail you give, the better we can advise.
Pharmacist assessment
Our pharmacist assesses your malaria risk and what prevention is appropriate for your destination, trip duration and health history.
Your prevention plan
If a preventive treatment is clinically appropriate, it's arranged during your visit — no need to visit a GP or return another day.
Everything in one visit
You leave the clinic with your prevention plan, any treatment, dosing instructions, and bite-prevention advice.
Prevention Is More Than One Thing
Whatever prevention is right for you, bite prevention is equally important.
Use DEET repellent
Apply 50% DEET insect repellent to exposed skin, especially from dusk to dawn when Anopheles mosquitoes are most active.
Cover up at dusk
Wear long-sleeved tops and long trousers in the evenings. Light-coloured clothing is easier to spot mosquitoes on.
Sleep under a net
Use a permethrin-treated bed net in rural or jungle areas. Check for gaps and tuck it under the mattress each night.
Stay in air-conditioned rooms
Mosquitoes don't thrive in air conditioning. In budget accommodation, use a plug-in mosquito killer or coils.
